Applied Psychoanalysis Committee
This committee promotes opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue through the exploration and application of psychoanalysis to art. It creates opportunities for VAPS members to share their experience with creative expression related to psychoanalytic ideas. The applied committee has hosted many events over the years, including an art exhibit created by VAPS members and an exploration of the literature of Elena Ferranti. Contact Elizabeth Goldstein if you are interested in joining this committee.
Bylaws Committee
This committee reviews and revises the VAPS bylaws to accommodate changes within VAPS and to the Division 39 bylaws, as the division and our local chapter have grown in size and complexity over the ten years since the original bylaws were drafted and adopted. Contact Aleta Vail if you are interested in joining this committee.
Education Committee
This committee plans all our educational conferences, such as the annual scientific meeting, the biennial ethics conference and online short courses. The planning for these events includes suggesting speakers who reflect the interests of our membership, finding venues to hold our events, and establishing curriculum with speakers. This work involves a lively discourse between committee members as well as between the committee and the executive committee. Contact Gerri Oppedisano if you are interested in joining this committee.
Executive Committee
This committee is our governing body and consists of elected officers and all VAPS committee chairs. Our elected officers are our president, past president, secretary and treasurer. It meets quarterly to review reports, coordinate the activities of the various VAPS committees, and to vote on decisions affecting our organization. This committee can also include a member-at-large, which is a VAPS member who wants to learn about the organization and taking on a role. Contact VAPS president Jake Rusczek if you are interested in becoming a member-at-large.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee, chaired by the Treasurer, provides budgetary oversight, analysis, and advice to the Executive Committee.
Membership Committee
This committee keeps information flowing between VAPS and its members through emails, listserv posts, website posts, and postcards. Members of this committee greet all who attend VAPS events while handing out folders, name tags and VAPS paraphernalia. This committee also lends its support to the website committee, as the website is the main hub of VAPS information. Contact Barbara Richmond if you are interested in joining this committee.
Research Committee
The mission of the Research Committee is to provide accessible resources about the efficacy of psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy in service of advocating for this approach to treatment. This mission includes building an advocacy case for continued insurance coverage for psychoanalytic treatment to present to Vermont State Legislature. Currently the Research Committee doesn't have a chair. Please contact Jacob Rusczek if you are interested in chairing this committee.
Website Committee
This committee discusses ways in which our website can best represent VAPS and offer information and services to its community. It collaborates with the executive committee on improvements and maintenance of the website, such as its recent redesign and launch. It also troubleshoots any problems that may arise with member use of the website. Contact Mark Washenberger if you are interested in joining this committee.
